Polio eradication remains a prime objective for Rotary with cases still evident in Afghanistan and Pakistan and a recent case imported to Malawi. The Club has continued to support Polio+ particularly with Jasmine’s efforts.

The Rotary charity that supports many humanitarian and educational initiatives. The Club makes an annual donation and was also pleased to have a Global Scholar as a guest speaker, a representative of one such initiative.

We have continued our support for this project for planting Inga trees in Africa and South America.

We supported this scheme with the purchase of two ShelterBoxes. This continues a long- standing commitment to the scheme to which we dedicated the proceeds of past Dickensian Nights.

A new project for the Club whereby micro-finance is loaned to entrepreneurs which is repaid as their enterprises develop.  Starting with £300, we have made 7 loans totalling £345 and have credit of £89, as a result of repayments. Our focus has been on women’s’ groups in Africa, South America and the Philippines.

Members are reminded of the huge range of Fellowships available to join, covering languages, hobbies, games etc. Rotary is principally a fellowship organisation, so members are encouraged to partake.
